Taking Steps was a piece for radio and dance steps, rhythmically composed and positioned spatially. This dark piece follows a single stalker’s footsteps through a sonic collage of field recordings, samples and victims’ testimonials. The piece is part-documentary, part-testimonial, part-electroacoustic composition, part-stomping score—in sum, a hybrid dance. It was performed several times in Montreal in 1994 and appears on the Radius #3 CD IN 1995.
“Marking space-time through movement is the degree zero of soundwalks, a thriving practice with links to both psychogeographical projects and acoustic ecology activities.”
